Hello Kids ! In today’s article we will see Chapter 4! In this we are going to learn about Metals and Non-Metals.
Material Type:
There are two types of children’s substances. Which are as follows –
- metal
- nonmetal
Metals and non-metals differ on the basis of physical and chemical properties.
Physical properties include size, colour, etc.
The following are included in the chemical properties.
traumatization
Tensile
acoustic
conductivity
Glow
stiffness
Vulnerability :
When a metal is beaten into a thin sheet. Then it is called traumatization.
This quality is found only in metals.
Tensile :
The change in thin wire is called tensile. Gold is the most ductile metal.
Acoustic :
When you beat something made of metal, it produces sound.
This quality is called acoustic.
conductivity :
This quality is also found only in metals.
Metals are good conductors of electricity and heat.
Means when one end is heated, then the other end also starts heating up slowly.
Glow :
This is also a property of metals. Which is found only in metals. A special kind of luster is found in metals. Which is called metallic luster.
Iodine is an exception to this. In which metallic luster is found.
Hardness :
Metals are hard. Mercury is the only metal which is found in liquid state at room temperature.
Metals show the following chemical properties –
Reaction with Oxygen Metals and Non-Metals
react with water
react with acids
react with bases
displacement reaction
Substances that show properties of both metals and non-metals are called metalloids.
